Feeling creative and want to get involved in Demon TV? No problem, we'd love to have you on board! We have four distinct sections: Marketing, Pre-Production, Production and Post-Production. It's up to you as to which ones you want to join, and there's nothing stopping you from joining all of them! However much you choose to get involved in, you're sure to gain a good amount of experience that will benefit you in the long run, especially if you're studying a Media-based course.

Below is a form that you can fill out: what it will do is subscribe you to our Demon TV Mailing List, and you will then receive emails from us regarding meetings, events and filming opportunities.

Subscribe

Please check the boxes next to the areas of Demon TV you are interested in participating in. This will determine which emails you will receive (if you check only Production for example you will only receive global emails and Production emails). If you change your mind at a later date simply resubscribe with your new choices.

Here's a brief rundown for each group along with the meeting times - please feel free to come along to any of the meetings and see if you'd like to get involved.

Marketing - Mondays at 6PM, Level 1 DSU

Marketing are primarily responsible for how Demon TV is published and marketed throughout not only the University campus, but also to outside interest. Examples of work include the Ident designs, the Hoodies, website, designing flyers/posters and organising socials.

Pre-Production - Tuesdays at 6PM, Level 1 DSU

Where all the planning and scripting takes place. Programme ideas are formulated and researched, scripts are developed and then passed onto Production. Pre-Production is hugely important, not least when it comes to interviews and scripted events that need to be tightly planned.

Production - Wednesdays at 6PM, Level 1 DSU

Production involves acquiring the footage, so this involves going out on shoots, having roles such as camera-persons, sound engineers and a director to ensure the footage is captured well.

Post-Production - Thursdays at 5.30PM, Union Building Steps

Post-production is the final stage of the programme development process. Footage is captured (or "digitised") onto a computer and then edited, either to a specific set of guidelines, or in some cases freeform (how the editor sees fit). Post-production are responsible for finalising the programmes (also adding nifty graphic titles and Idents) and exporting them into a number of formats for different broadcast situations. The group is responsible for any special effects/compositing work that may need to be done: a good typical example is the Ident development process where Adobe After Effects is used.

IT Management - No Meeting time

Managing the IT sector of Demon TV is technically demanding, and is currently run by Jim. It involves looking after the website (HTML/PHP coding), managing the member mailing list and other adminstrative duties and most importantly encoding the final programmes for various formats, eg website streaming, HD podcasts, DVD presentations and, perhaps in the not too near future, Blu-Ray releases (well, maybe - who knows?). Jim is currently looking for an enthusiastic "techy" to take over this role in a year's time, as he's in his final year. If anyone is interested, come up to the Media Office at Level 1 DSU and introduce yourself! (Or e-mail will do just fine as well, jamesritson AT googlemail.com).
