Manifesto for Ricky Sansome for the role of Head of Marketing.

Final Year BA Marketing Management Student

I have only just started working with the Demon Media Network, although I have worked in various roles across the East Midlands within entertainment and marketing industries. If I were elected as

Head of Marketing for Demon TV, I would work to build the brand, and help to engage new viewers’ with the content.

I would start by revamping Demon’s use of social media and integrate our production media content with our social media platforms, in order to gain viewers interest and also the help build the brand.

In addition would also focus on technology and try to look at ways to connect with Demon TV Viewers.

My main marketing message would be ‘Demon TV, the network created for students by students’

I would be looking to get more students involved with the station, and using the resources we have, many students who are looking to gain work within entertainment after leaving university, will need experience (I know because I have been there too), so I feel we could use this opportunity to get some exciting new content and use our: Creative Writers, Performing Arts and Design Students to help us create work for station and then use that work within their career portfolios.

I would also like to look at events and promotion on campus, and try to see if we can work with DMU to create some networking events. Best way to put the word out there is via networking.

I would also like to try and get some new ways for broadcasting the content, by seeing if we could play Loop Tapes on some of the screens outside of the SU, we have several around campus that need a little livening up!

MY Background

Before attending De Montfort I worked in Education Marketing, promoting Media and Performance based courses whilst studying for my BTEC National, this gave me experience in media and also working within a marketing department for a large organization, I also worked part time as a Radio Presenter for 103 the Eye in Melton Mowbray, where I had my own show called Student Focus.

From this I gained vast experience of Campaign Management and Strategy, I have also worked in event management and have assisted and managed events at various locations, including Belvoir Castle, PERA Centre for Innovation and also at DMU.

During my time with BMC I recruited and managed a team of 8 students, who each had their own areas within the project, this has given me experience of managing a team and also working in a Commercial marketing environment and delivering results.

If elected I would work with the Marketing team to ensure that each person had their own area of the project to work on so that more could be done and all ideas could be voiced, and if they are feasible become reality, and in doing so manage their own results, I learnt by doing so I would also like to pass on that experience to others within the team, to ensure they are reaching their full potential with Demon TV.

Manifesto for Alannah Vient for the role of Head of Marketing.

Don’t you just get a thrill out of being a part of something; I recently joined Demon Media and already I feel a part of the family. I would love to be Head of Marketing so I can make people feel a part of our family whether they are involved or not; showing them that their opinions do matter and can make a difference.

Without sounding corny, I am a ‘peoples’ person; a social character. I have passion for getting involved and being amongst a crowd. I believe these are key within this role; if I was to be elected into this role I would put these skills to good use an raise awareness about who Demon Media really are and what they are all about, developing existing and creating new ways to engage an intrigued audience who are inspired and encouraged by the work we do and also so they can enjoy it as much as we do.

I work well on my own; I am a successful time manager and have many leadership skills. Organization and time management is important in my life; I follow through when deadlines are thrown my way but ensure we keep ahead of schedule by dedicating jobs and roles fairly. On the other hand, I work well in a team; I include everyone and take everyone’s opinion into consideration. I am not a ‘showboat’ and am a fairly humble person. I love being positive, try my best to be encouraging yet honest in everything and with everyone but do so in a way that won’t hurt or offend anyone.

I feel I would be a valuable member of this team as I bring with me much experience within this field and a vast amount of skills and abilities to push this role to it’s full potential and assist in continuing and furthering the success of Demon Media, in this case, Demon TV.

Manifesto for Joanne Seaby for the role of Head of Marketing.

I believe I would be good as head of Marketing at Demon TV because I have a clear vision of how Demon TV should present it to De Montfort students. I possess naturally good timekeeping and organizational abilities and have acquired leadership experience, team-working skills in Army Cadets.

I have some professional advert design experience in which included banners and leaflets. I have produced posters for diverse events at a retirement complex, and was head of decorations and promotion for a Dance4Life charity/awareness event, these have given me skills at designing promotional materials, and knowledge of what works well and what information and styles makes good promotional materials.

My course has increased my confidence in presentations and aptitude when working within a team as well as leading teams and making sure everything is completed and communication within the team is efficient. I make will sure that each individual’s skills suit their positions to get the best end product from the team. During my weekly critical assessments in my course, I have dramatically improved my ability to give and receive constructive criticism, helping to improve my own and others’ work and take ideas to the next stage.

As head of marketing some of my aims will be to keep existing viewers interested and entice new people in by advertising new content and the station.

I believe that we should use the rest of Demon Media to promote Demon TV; we ought to be advertising in the newspaper and get adverts on the radio.

Social media is used by everyone, free and frequently a very successful marketing tool. I believe we should be using this to our advantage to promote Demon TV. We should encourage user involvement as people like to be involved; for example, having polls and a suggestion ‘box’ on Facebook.

One of my objectives would be to increase view counts by getting us out there as much as possible.

I want to aim to get Demon TV a YouTube partnership, allowing us the possibility of getting advertising revenue through a sponsor, give us better exposure, the possibility for longer videos and better channel customisation, including the ability to add links to external sites such as social networks to generate additional interest.

Produce and distribute promotional materials, including advertising in the library so that people look our videos up when they get bored of coursework.

I will be a good leader as I work well with people, have strong organisational and communication skills. I will be effective in this position as I am approachable, kind and hard-working. This year, I want to see Demon TV achieve its full potential and really flourish.

Hi all,

Please find below two examples of past manifestos from our execs. Hope these help with writing your own manifestos.

Ben Cotton Station Manager Manifesto

I have been actively involved with demon TV since my first week at De Montfort University and have enjoyed every minute of it. Having been actively involved in pre production, production and post production I have found myself becoming
part of the whole process of programme making this year. I feel that I would make an excellent leader for demon Tv and use my experience with making TV to enhance this. So far this year I have helped with the development of the quiz show that now is looking to film a 2nd episode and I have headed the making of our new sports show. This last I am very proud of as it is something demon TV has never done before so it was a privilege to be part of this. In my first year I was head of another show, which was a news show. Although this was not of the best quality I did learn a lot from the show and take this into the sports show this year. I feel the organization I put into the sports show
demonstrates my credibility to be station manager this next academic year.

As a media production 2nd year student next year will be my 3rd. This course has offered me many teachings in the making of TV programmes particularly with the use of our studio in queens building. As the only fully active member of
my year group in media production I feel that I will have the most knowledge, particularly in production going into demon TV next year. I have also been able to use my experience from our wood Norton assignment which has again
improved my knowledge and understanding of the production process in the studio.

My leadership skills are another quality I think will be important if I were to take the role of station manager next year. As a scout leader in my home town Telford I am well aware of the importance of a good leader and in particular good
planning to ensure that there will be a good range of activities in the future. The same goes for demon TV as I would need to ensure that there is always content for us to film. And also as a hill walking instructor I am aware of the importance of strong leader in certain situations. I would use my experience as a leader in these to know when I need to be lead and when perhaps delegation or sitting
back would be useful. My plans for nxt year with programmes I would like to make would be to have 2 or 3 consistent regular programmes which would allow us to have some programmes to begin filming pretty early on. I would see the sports show and quiz show fitting into these. Chris wells has done a fantastic job with the film review show which has been a massive success over the past 2 years. However we would need to look into how this could continue without Chris as a presenter. I also would like demon Tv to take on some kind of big event/ challenge to be filmed in a documentary style. If done correctly I feel this could offer us a really
good show. I also want to get directly involved with the students union. Ideally I would like a relationship where we film events for them and then they showcase these on their screens in level 1. This would offer us a place to broadcast outside of the website, which would also help us to promote our station as people would see our content and this could help us to promote more members. I also see media courses as the main aim to recruit members as we are beginning to
dwindle in numbers. I would look at targeting these classes in freshers week and perhaps try to get a lecture slot, particularly with media production were
we could promote ourselves and show them some content we have previously
made.

In conclusion I feel that I would make a good station manager as I have already shown myself this year to be quite an important role within demon TV. I also have a good knowledge of how to make a good TV show from my course as well as what it takes to be a good leader.

Stanley Ashton Head of Post-Production Manifesto

I joined Demon Media when I started at DMU and have been attending as many of the meetings as I can. I want to be the head of post-production to be able to teach others how to edit as I have a strong knowledge base of editing from my time at college as well as this year in demon TV being a member of the post-production team. I have 3 years of editing experiences behind me as well as being the head boy at my secondary school it has taught me how to lead a team of people.

I can use both Premier Pro as well as Final Cut Pro and have an understanding of the programs to the point where I can teach others how to use them as well as having a good knowledge of after effects as well as through being a member of post-production I have learned how to use Encore to code the DVD’s for Demon Tv.

With my time keeping skills I will be able to make sure that I am always there for meetings on time and to have resource that are needed to help the other members of the group. Then if I don’t understand something I will find the answers to the problem either on the internet or by asking a member of staff for help.

I believe I would make a good member of the executive team as well as a good deputy station manager as I have good management skills and will be able to bring a wealth of experiences to the table as well as being able to work with anyone I will be able to work seamlessly with the other executive members to help Demon Tv reach its full potential.
