Manifesto for Ricky Sansome for the role of Head of Marketing.
Final Year BA Marketing Management Student
I have only just started working with the Demon Media Network, although I have worked in various roles across the East Midlands within entertainment and marketing industries. If I were elected as
Head of Marketing for Demon TV, I would work to build the brand, and help to engage new viewers’ with the content.
I would start by revamping Demon’s use of social media and integrate our production media content with our social media platforms, in order to gain viewers interest and also the help build the brand.
In addition would also focus on technology and try to look at ways to connect with Demon TV Viewers.
My main marketing message would be ‘Demon TV, the network created for students by students’
I would be looking to get more students involved with the station, and using the resources we have, many students who are looking to gain work within entertainment after leaving university, will need experience (I know because I have been there too), so I feel we could use this opportunity to get some exciting new content and use our: Creative Writers, Performing Arts and Design Students to help us create work for station and then use that work within their career portfolios.
I would also like to look at events and promotion on campus, and try to see if we can work with DMU to create some networking events. Best way to put the word out there is via networking.
I would also like to try and get some new ways for broadcasting the content, by seeing if we could play Loop Tapes on some of the screens outside of the SU, we have several around campus that need a little livening up!
MY Background
Before attending De Montfort I worked in Education Marketing, promoting Media and Performance based courses whilst studying for my BTEC National, this gave me experience in media and also working within a marketing department for a large organization, I also worked part time as a Radio Presenter for 103 the Eye in Melton Mowbray, where I had my own show called Student Focus.
From this I gained vast experience of Campaign Management and Strategy, I have also worked in event management and have assisted and managed events at various locations, including Belvoir Castle, PERA Centre for Innovation and also at DMU.
During my time with BMC I recruited and managed a team of 8 students, who each had their own areas within the project, this has given me experience of managing a team and also working in a Commercial marketing environment and delivering results.
If elected I would work with the Marketing team to ensure that each person had their own area of the project to work on so that more could be done and all ideas could be voiced, and if they are feasible become reality, and in doing so manage their own results, I learnt by doing so I would also like to pass on that experience to others within the team, to ensure they are reaching their full potential with Demon TV.
Manifesto for Alannah Vient for the role of Head of Marketing.
Don’t you just get a thrill out of being a part of something; I recently joined Demon Media and already I feel a part of the family. I would love to be Head of Marketing so I can make people feel a part of our family whether they are involved or not; showing them that their opinions do matter and can make a difference.
Without sounding corny, I am a ‘peoples’ person; a social character. I have passion for getting involved and being amongst a crowd. I believe these are key within this role; if I was to be elected into this role I would put these skills to good use an raise awareness about who Demon Media really are and what they are all about, developing existing and creating new ways to engage an intrigued audience who are inspired and encouraged by the work we do and also so they can enjoy it as much as we do.
I work well on my own; I am a successful time manager and have many leadership skills. Organization and time management is important in my life; I follow through when deadlines are thrown my way but ensure we keep ahead of schedule by dedicating jobs and roles fairly. On the other hand, I work well in a team; I include everyone and take everyone’s opinion into consideration. I am not a ‘showboat’ and am a fairly humble person. I love being positive, try my best to be encouraging yet honest in everything and with everyone but do so in a way that won’t hurt or offend anyone.
I feel I would be a valuable member of this team as I bring with me much experience within this field and a vast amount of skills and abilities to push this role to it’s full potential and assist in continuing and furthering the success of Demon Media, in this case, Demon TV.
Manifesto for Joanne Seaby for the role of Head of Marketing.
I believe I would be good as head of Marketing at Demon TV because I have a clear vision of how Demon TV should present it to De Montfort students. I possess naturally good timekeeping and organizational abilities and have acquired leadership experience, team-working skills in Army Cadets.
I have some professional advert design experience in which included banners and leaflets. I have produced posters for diverse events at a retirement complex, and was head of decorations and promotion for a Dance4Life charity/awareness event, these have given me skills at designing promotional materials, and knowledge of what works well and what information and styles makes good promotional materials.
My course has increased my confidence in presentations and aptitude when working within a team as well as leading teams and making sure everything is completed and communication within the team is efficient. I make will sure that each individual’s skills suit their positions to get the best end product from the team. During my weekly critical assessments in my course, I have dramatically improved my ability to give and receive constructive criticism, helping to improve my own and others’ work and take ideas to the next stage.
As head of marketing some of my aims will be to keep existing viewers interested and entice new people in by advertising new content and the station.
I believe that we should use the rest of Demon Media to promote Demon TV; we ought to be advertising in the newspaper and get adverts on the radio.
Social media is used by everyone, free and frequently a very successful marketing tool. I believe we should be using this to our advantage to promote Demon TV. We should encourage user involvement as people like to be involved; for example, having polls and a suggestion ‘box’ on Facebook.
One of my objectives would be to increase view counts by getting us out there as much as possible.
I want to aim to get Demon TV a YouTube partnership, allowing us the possibility of getting advertising revenue through a sponsor, give us better exposure, the possibility for longer videos and better channel customisation, including the ability to add links to external sites such as social networks to generate additional interest.
Produce and distribute promotional materials, including advertising in the library so that people look our videos up when they get bored of coursework.
I will be a good leader as I work well with people, have strong organisational and communication skills. I will be effective in this position as I am approachable, kind and hard-working. This year, I want to see Demon TV achieve its full potential and really flourish.
